About the position
Our client based in Parow, Cape Town is seeking a Material Handler to join their team. This will be a 3-month contract.
The Material Handler is responsible for efficiently handling, moving, and storing materials within the warehouse. This role ensures that inventory is received, stored, and distributed accurately while maintaining safety standards and warehouse organization. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, a strong work ethic, and the ability to operate warehouse equipment safely and effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
Receiving & Inspection
Unload incoming shipments and verify the accuracy of received goods against purchase orders.
Inspect materials for damage and report discrepancies to the supervisor.
Material Handling & Storage
Move materials to designated storage locations within the warehouse.
Organize and stack items properly to optimize space and maintain safety.
Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely.
Order Picking & Packing
Pick, pack, and prepare orders according to customer and company specifications.
Ensure accurate labeling and documentation of shipments.
Inventory Control
Conduct regular stock counts and cycle counts to maintain accurate inventory records.
Assist in reconciling discrepancies and reporting low stock levels.
Safety & Housekeeping
Follow all warehouse safety protocols and procedures.
Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free workspace.
Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards immediately.
Qualifications & Skills:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Cycle Count
Stock Take / count
Warehouse Conditioning
Previous warehouse or material handling experience preferred.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Physical ability to lift and move heavy materials.
Work Environment:
Warehouse setting with exposure to varying temperatures.
Standing, walking, and lifting for extended periods.
Requires the use of safety equipment, such as gloves and safety boots (provided).
