Company Overview Wasaa was founded in early 2008 as the first independent petrochemicals company that is 100% owned and managed by black women in South Africa, with a level 1 BBB-EE rating. The primary goal of the company remains that of progressively amassing market share in a sustainable manner and gaining visible presence within the petroleum and commodities sectors through its extensive product portfolio and infrastructure. Setting up its LPG filling plant in Kya Sands in 2010 has allowed the company to invest significantly in the LPG business in the form of LPG tankers, logistic fleet, cylinders, storage tanks and gas cylinder filling facility for domestic, commercial and industrial markets. The gas business has been complemented by significant growth in commodities and chemical supply contracts in South Africa and within the SADC market. Wasaa’s empowerment credentials, trading expertise and consistent delivery has raised the company’s profile within the gas, chemicals, crude oil and fuels sub-sectors of the petroleum and commodities sectors. Wasaa’s business partners range from petroleum majors, re-sellers, government entities, distributors, warehousing-logistics companies through shopping malls. City of Tshwane, Schoeman Boerdery, SAA Air Chefs, Food Corp (Nola) , KZN Ezemvelo, Supreme Poultry and DHL International are some of the recent relationships that the company has secured in the last year. The company drives growth through diversification of its offering, extension of the geographic footprint as well as infrastructure investment. Over the years, the company has successfully built its business from a green-fields concept into a respected independent player within the petrochemicals industry, locally and internationally.
