“Elegant Country Epitomised” The Silver Sixpence Wedding Venue is situated at the luxury self-catering private retreat of Cairnfern Country Lodge (2.5 hours from Johannesburg, near the popular trout fishing town of Dullstroom). The wedding party has exclusive use of 300 hectares of rolling grasslands, mountains, dams and forests. The Silver Sixpence sets itself apart from other wedding venues, by allowing the wedding party total access to the whole property and facilities for the whole weekend! On the Saturday morning, wake up on your wedding day to the sound of birdsong, relaxed in the knowledge that you are already at your venue and can continue to enjoy the build-up to the magical moment when you walk down the aisle – either in the forest, at a lake, under the protective canopy of the ancient Oak trees or in the chapel. After your ceremony, whilst you and your family and retinue are having photographs taken, your guests can enjoy canapés and refreshments and entertain themselves playing croquet or boulle outside the reception area, or fly-fishing in the nearby trout dam. A golf cart is provided for the Bride and Groom to whisk them away to various photo-spots decided on before the day! The Chapel bell can be rung to remind them they are at a wedding and that they need to proceed to the venue hall for the reception!
